Summary: A TISS student film on the Dharavi-based "wedding photographer" who calls himself Babu Rao (after Painter).

Baburao:Dont start from here... start when the curtain falls.
Baburao: Greetings! My name is Narayan Pundlik Laad. I am a signboard painter,in our Marathi community there was cameraman and painter by the name of Baburao Painter who became famous and I also liked the name, So I changed it to Baburao Painter and soon people also recognised me by the name of Babu Rao Painter and gradually from painting I got into art direction. Through art direction I got in to the camera department, I started using the camera ... I also shoot for films... people started asking me to shoot their wedding videos for weddings, birthday parties or any kind of procession...

Baburao: I get orders to make the video... I get orders to operate the camera, so I go ahead and do that.It was Gajanan's son Chandrakant's wedding... I had shot that wedding.See! there's my name... Cameraman- Director Baburao Laadsaheb. The young generation wants the latest songs and the old people want religious or wedding songs. I put the songs in after the shooting... if the shot is about food, then I put the song " You will get food, you will get drink. It's your brothers wedding. You will receive everything... that type of a song goes well with images of lunch time.

Baburao: Some people feel happy to be on camera, some shy. Some people point at others to avoid the camera. Some people are too shy to eat , either they stop eating or they run away. I feel bad then because I stopped someone from eating.

During my painting days, when I was struggling... I painted a TV on a wall and in that I painted "Painter Babu". At that that time I used to go to my brother-in-law's house to play with his three kids using that as an excuse to meet my heroine, my lover. Later, I married her... this is my lovers photo...
Will you drink tea?
Till then why don't you say something about our wedding.
great photos

Baburao: It's my interest and hobby to use the camera...My interest led me to learn to use the camera. Through this art now I earn some money... I stay in Dharavi... so I have seen weddings of different religions. I get called to these weddings and so my talent is encouraged. I want to stay connected to the camera as much as possible... because I could shoot different weddings I know what happens in a Buddhist... Muslim... Hindu wedding. Hindu weddings also have a lot of variety. So I get an opportunity to see all kinds of weddings... I get to eat all kinds of food. So there is variety in every work I do. I get bored with one kind of work...I like doing things that offer me variety.
